New Champetas from Colombia

By - 24 May, 2011

Our good friend Fabian Altahona, who runs the Africolombia blog, recently sent us a selection of champetas from the last 10 years. Champeta is the sound of Afro-Colombia and these represent the songs that you would typically find in Colombian cities such as Cartagena and Barranquilla.

We’d previously featured a mixtape from Fabian, entitled El Picó, which focused on classic Afro-Colombian music. These champetas here are all about the current sounds which you will regularly find on the picó soundsystems in Colombia.
