Fundraiser Launched for Sounds and Colours Peru

By 14 January, 2015

This year we are set to launch our third publication, a book, CD and DVD devoted to the music and culture of Peru. The book will follow in the footsteps of our Colombia and Brazil publications and, not too surprisingly, will thus be titled Sounds and Colours Peru.

Sounds and Colours Peru will look at contemporary Peruvian culture – at new music, street art, modern literature, the current state of the film industry, upcoming artists – and the musical, cultural and folkloric icons that continue to have a big impact on Peruvian culture – the kings of chicha, short-story writer Julio Ramón Ribeyro, Afro-Peruvian icon Nicomedes Santa Cruz, documentary film-maker Heddy Honningmann and cult miracle-maker Sarita Colonia, to name just a few.

It will be a 200-page book, 20-track CD and, for the first time ever, a 2-hour DVD, devoted to Peru. We will be working with a team of writers, researchers, film-makers, musicians, artists and illustrators from around the world to put together a guide to Peruvian culture made with love, passion and integrity.

The book will also be released as a digital book (for Kindle, ePub, PDF and other digital formats) in both English and Spanish.

We are currently raising money for the costs of publishing Sounds and Colours Peru via an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. You can pre-order a copy of the book and buy exclusive Peruvian perks via this link: marcosaldana.com/english/projects/interventions/proyecto-escenarios

In our fundraising campaign we are offering some beautiful t-shirts made by Peruvian duo Carga Maxima (this will be one of the few chances you will get to order these shirts without going to Peru yourself!) Here are the designs:
