Well, I hope everyone else is enjoying the World Cup as much as we are – it’s been a dream for the South American teams so far and I really hope this continues!
I wanted to quickly get in a nod for Fabian Altahona, the head honcho over at Africolombia’s blog who very kindly told us some of his favourite Afro-Colombian tunes. You can now download the mix here at Sounds and Colours. Some classic Wganda Kenya and Afrosound to be enjoyed there. He also then kindly ran an article on Sounds and Colours which can be found here, so full props to Fabian. Cheers mate!
On with this week’s edition of The Sound…

Our interview with Very Be Careful has now been made into an article and can be read with your eyes here. These make some of the greatest Colombian-fuelled party music, and have been causing a storm around LA for quite a while now. It’s about time they went global!
Anibal Velasquez perfected his own brand of Colombian music, mixing rumba and cumbia with his own indelible panache. He recently put together some new tracks for Analog Africa Records (which are incredible by the way). Have a read of his story here. He will be touring Europe in 2011 so keep your ears peeled!
There’s also plenty more news and reviews at the site so pop over for a look if you’re after a bit more colour in your day!
