by Rebecca Alper

New York’s Summer Stage is kicking off its 2012 season with an evening of performances by Nu-bossa bombshell, Bebel Gilberto, Grammy-nominated jazz singer Gregory Porter and other acclaimed artists at Highline Ballroom in New York City on January 5th. Continue Reading

Rock In Rio (Day Seven)

Guns ‘n’ Roses kicking up a fuss on the main stage on the last day of Rock In Rio, Boss In Drama blasting it out on the Eletronica stage and Os Mutantes, Tom Ze, Titas and Marcelo Carmelo all battling it out on our favourite Palco Sunset stage. Not a bad way to wrap things up! Continue Reading

Rock In Rio (Day Six)

The less said about Rock in Rio‘s main stage on day six the better, but Palco Sunset did once more throw up some interesting combinations, and there was a great looking line-up of Joe Claussell, Francois K and Danny Krivit on the Eletronica stage too. Continue Reading

Rock In Rio (Day Five)

A strange mix of artists on Rock In Rio‘s main stage: Shakira, Lenny Kravitz, Ivete Sangola, Jota Quest and Marcelo D2 was matched by some eclectic choices on the Palco Sunset stage which offered a wide variety of Brazil’s musical talent. For some reason Buraka Som Sistema and Mix Hell were the first up. Surely they should be the band you bring on at 2 in the morning! Continue Reading

Rock In Rio (Day Four)

The fourth day of Rock In Rio was the first of the second weekend, and a day that saw Stevie Wonder on the main stage getting the entire audience to sing “The Girl From Ipanema.” As per previous days Palco Sunset was the place to hear new Brazilian music, as well as Joss Stone who vamped it up there too! Continue Reading

Now this is something you don’t see every day, Stevie Wonder singing “Garota de Ipanema” and “Você Abusou” to an enraptured crowd at Rock In Rio 2011, with the crowd probably singing most of it to be honest. This is surely an argument for big stadium gigs to exist!

Rock In Rio is now into it’s fifth day of activity. If you want to see action from the first three days of the festival then follow these links:

Rock In Rio (Day Three)

Rock In Rio (Day Three)

Day three was all about metal, with Slipknot, Metallica and Motorhead on the main stage, and the likes of Sepultura (Brazil’s biggest ever metal band!), Korzus and Angra on the Palco Sunset stage. However, our money as best act of the day was on Matanza and Rio rapper BNegão. Continue Reading

Rock In Rio (Day Two)

The second day at Rock In Rio had a pretty ropey bunch of headliners, Snow Patrol and Red Hot Chili Peppers anyone?, but some killer combos on the Palco Sunset stage. Mike Patton was the last man on the stage, finishing things off with his performance accompanied by Mondo Cane and Orquestra Sinfonica de Heliópolis: Continue Reading

Rock In Rio (Day One)

There is something about Rock In Rio that just seems quite exciting. Maybe it’s the history because this year’s edition did not look that great on paper, or at least none of the headliners did, yet we still found ourselves getting a little excited about it. Now, unfortunately none of our team managed to get over to Rio for this one but we have got some pretty good photos and video from the event of some of our favourite performers. Continue Reading

It’s time for Rock…in Rio!

by Eduardo Pagnoncelli

After ten years Rock in Rio festival is back to the city that gives name to the event. In the last decade, Madrid and Lisbon had the privilege to have their own editions of one of the biggest music events in the world. Now, it is time again for Rio de Janeiro to host the 4th edition of Rock in Rio festival in 2011, as recently announced by businessman and creator of the festival Roberto Medina and Rio’s mayor Eduardo Paes.
